About Us

Coastal Radio SA was started, as a concept internet radio station  in April 2015, and went ON AIR with its very first live broadcast on the 1st of October 2015.
The founding member Christelle Nel, also a broadcaster with All Time Radio at the time, pondered on the idea of her own station. Martin Nel and A J Mouton, also  with seats at ATR brainstormed the idea on a stormy night in Cape Town and a unanimous decison between these founding members was made. That in short deciding, “We’ll be going or own way.” And of course doing our own thing. All turned down their seats at ATR in late September and we hit the “air waves” in October.
Currently we are broadcasting from a number of studios throughout South Africa and recently also Australia, We keep thousands of local listeners company with a 24-hour service. But we also keep thousands of our expats hearts warm. Those who still want to experience and enjoy something from the motherland. Our aim is to inspire and motivate each and every listener to have a positive outlook towards our beautiful country, its people, its diversity and their own lives.
We are extremely proud to have dynamic, creative and passionate team of presenters who deliver captivating content with that “old school” radio feel.
Our programming varies from pure entertainment to actuality programs and our key focus is the South African entertainment industries and local content.

Our FOCUS is on top quality entertainment predominantly for English and Afrikaans speaking listeners all over the world. We refrain from topics of political, racial or sexually explicit nature and leave the news to those specializing in dishing  it up in consumable quantities. We rather focus  on lifestyle, activities and interests from our target audience.

We FACILITATE providing a platform for local musicians and artists We interview local musicians and entertainers providing them with much needed exposure aiming for employment creation for these individuals within the local and international entertainment industries.
We SHARE by making our platform available to registered NGO’s and charity organisations that  support  and develop  those in need.

Our estimated listenership (calculated through information surveys, competitions and other communication tools) indicates between 180 000 to 200 000.
